Written on the Clouds

Betty J. Slade • January 9, 2024

Help me welcome returning author Betty J. Slade as she talks about her latest release and her paintings.

Exciting News! An audio will soon be released on Amazon of Taming Wild Hearts, Disappointment Valley Series, Book one. After listening to seventeen auditions for the right voice to read my story, I chose Craig Abbot.

Craig Abbott’s voice is perfect as the narrator. Many people are waiting for the audio version of this story. It will be very soon on Amazon.

Written on the clouds

As we see the sun set on 2023, we believe God’s promises for new compassions and new mercies for 2024. These quick little watercolors (9X12”) bring back memories when I spent an artist vacation on Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine (see below).

Monhegan is a small, rocky island ten miles from the nearest mainland. A square mile in area, the island is accessible only by boat and is a walking island. This artists’ colony has remained the same since Norman Rockwell, Robert Henri, and Andrew Wyeth painted there. Nothing has changed, but nature around it paints its story new every day.

Paraphrasing words from Psalm 19, God writes his messages in the stars. Space itself speaks his story every day… His truth is on tour in the starry vault of the sky…Each day gushes out its message to the next…night with night whispering its knowledge to all…Everywhere its gospel is clearly read so all may know.

I always reflect on this time of the year. What did I learn in 2023 and what am I taking into 2024? The year, 2023 was all about change. I stepped down from the Vice President position with my writers’ group and took on the awesome task of marketing Taming Wild Hearts, Book One of Disappointment Valley Series. I’ve met new business associates and new friends.

For 2024, book two in this same western romance series is in the works and a new devotional book is on the front burner of my mind. One thing I know the gospel stays the same as daily trials come and stirs things up. We can sleep well at night even though times are changing. We have the promise Jesus remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.
