The God Renaissance and Supernatural Faith-Based Fiction

Heather Thompson, Author and Bondservant to Christ • January 24, 2024

Join me today as I welcome Heather Thompson as she shares her thoughts on this very interesting topic.

I believe we are on the precipice of a God Renaissance.

Why would I say such a thing? The world around us is crumbling in every way. Evil is being exposed at an alarming rate, while good is rising in every area of society. We, as Christians, are seeing the stark dividing line between the kingdom of darkness and God’s kingdom in real time which is leading to revival in some of the most unlikely places – like a high school football field in Georgia where the coach baptized his players.

It’s the God Renaissance, and WE get to be part of it.

This is the very reason that, I believe, the Lord led me to write my supernatural faith-based fiction book Stillwater.

As a millennial (I’m in the middle of the generation at 36) I’ve watched my generation and the ones after me pull away from or completely blur the lines of God’s word. These same peers would dabble in witchcraft for “fun” and call it a game while insisting that the supernatural is a made up reality that only existed in movies or television shows. But, that’s just not true.

The Holy Spirit inspired book Stillwater shows the level of threat we are facing today being lukewarm or milky Christians. Believers, like me, have a responsibility to the world around us to share God’s word based on our gifts and the Lord’s call on our life.

The main character of my story, Harriet Gordon, is a Sunday Christian. She grew up with a vague understanding of the Lord, but never had her own red sea moment. She attended church because it’s what she was taught, not because the Bible ever changed her life. This is the spiritual place where so many people in America live today; and it’s the place from which they need to be awakened.

Harriet’s journey reveals the supernatural realm in a way that readers may have never envisioned it before. The battle between angels and demons for the soul of the town of Stillwater reveals the truth behind the verse that says:

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. “ Ephesians 6:12 NKJV

We are more than conquerors – we are warriors for Christ.
