Finding Hope In Stressful Times

Vicki Andree • June 2, 2022

Today I'm thrilled to welcome good friend, sweet Sister in the Lord, and an outstanding author, Vicki Andree. She's sharing about her latest book, Finding Hope.

Do you have trouble finding hope in these troubled times? You may be asking yourself, “How do I find hope when my world turns up-side-down?” Every one of us have certain expectations concerning the state of our lives. Whether your concern is about the state of the world, or the state of your world, we could all use a little hope. Join me as I travel the Biblical summit of hope revealed in 1 Peter through the pages of my new book, Finding Hope.

Hope is that glimmer of light surrounding the sun during a solar eclipse. It gives us peace, sometimes fills us with awe, and allows us to seek a positive outcome.

When a solar eclipse occurs, the moon blocks the sun’s light and plunges your house into darkness. The light of your world disappears, and although the total darkness lasts only for seven and one-half minutes, it can seem as though all hope has vanished. Seven and one-half minutes can seem like an eternity when you don’t understand that light will reappear, as bright as ever. This amazing phenomenon, the solar eclipse, happens between two and five times a year.

When you witness a solar eclipse, you may not be aware that the darkness does not cover the entire Earth, but only where you are. As the shadow passes, that powerful stream of light from the sun reappears and assures us that life goes on and all is well.

The Book of 1 Peter in the Holy Bible is often referred to as a book about persecution. While Peter tells of the persecution believers are suffering, he also fills believers with words of hope. Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, provides hope for us today.

Be assured that this is not a cold commentary, but my personal look at each verse, sharing stories with perspective gained from years of experiences. This is an excellent resource for study groups.

Satan uses fear to block the Son’s light, and destroy our hope. We stand strong with Jesus, knowing that He has overcome the evil one and no weapon formed against us will succeed (Is. 54:17). I often tell people that I have read the back of the Book, and we win!
