Above is a watercolor I painted several years ago. The subject of leaves, grapes, and branches is actually the underpainting of yellow and purple. When the paint dried, I penciled in the images and painted the background around them. The subject was not touched but with a line or two in the leaves.

I’m reminded of the season we are facing. The believers are being challenged in a way we’ve not known before. The subject is blurry, the background final, the future uncertain. But God is working behind the scenes, in the underpainting so to speak, in the root cause, the fight between light and darkness.

The Lord dropped this message in my spirit for our writers’ group. It’s up to us to stand strong for our voices and fight for our faith.

The big question is will we fight for our voices? Will we fight for our faith? And how will we fight? In 1 Timothy 6:12, the message is to fight the good fight of faith and lay hold of eternal life.

When I received this e-mail from a reader, I knew I had to pursue this subject. God’s way of letting me know He means business.

Linda Ash from Canada writes, “I feel a kindred spirit with you! And if the Lord could depend on anyone to fight the good fight of faith it would be you. You have a large following. I pray all the time for people with a voice. You have that voice. I don’t do Facebook postings —or rarely do. I haven’t got followers. Everyone in Pagosa knows you. God chose you wisely.”

It was God’s way of saying, buck up. I chose your voice. I gave you a platform. Will you fight for Me?

Getting down to brass tacks, to the nitty gritty, the facts, the truth, of what I believe, I was reminded that it’s a spiritual fight and it’s God’s fight. A war between good and evil. Not against politicians, people in power, corrupt government, but against evil.

God understands the fight and our weaknesses. We’re no match for the devil. Excerpts from The Passion Translations, He tells us he is fighting for us.

Romans 8:26 The Holy Spirit empowers us in our weakness. … The Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf.

Romans 8:27 – God searches the heart, The Holy Spirit passionately pleads before God for us, in perfect harmony with God’s plan and our destiny.

Romans 8:28 Every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan. For we are his lovers who have been called to fulfil his designed purpose.

The Challenge for Christians writers under attack is to fight the good fight of faith for our voices and pick up our pens and write. Understand the fight is spiritual and belongs to God. It means we have to surrender to the Lord, pray for His words to fall from the ink of our pens and let him take care of the details.
