Today I'm excited to welcome author Elle Kay as she shares about her latest release and about herself. And she's generously offered to gift one lucky reader with a book of their choice from her catalogue.

Inspired by the Hero released today (October 26, 2022), the 15^th book in the multi-author "Heroes of Freedom Ridge" Series. It’s a romance with a heavy suspense thread. Each book is a complete story, so they can be read out of order, but since new characters are introduced in each book, you may enjoy the stories more if you read them sequentially.

Casey was introduced early in the series. She was working as a barista at Mountain Mug and going to school part-time. Now that she has graduated, she is a Cardiology Physician’s Assistant with trust issues.

When it was time to decide on her backstory, I used my own history to inform hers. Like Casey, I idolized my police officer father and struggled immensely when he was arrested. People can be cruel to the children of offenders. I became a serial runaway. I wanted to escape everything and everyone. The trouble was I took myself with me everywhere I went. Casey had that same desire to flee and wanted to move to the big city where she could blend in far away from small town gossip.

Until Casey learns to trust God to heal her wounded heart, she can’t fully commit to the man she loves and is unable to find the peace she desires.

Giving her a similar backstory to my own allowed me to reach deep and feel what she felt so that I could know how she would behave in the series of unfortunate circumstances I threw her into. I wanted Casey to experience the ultimate joy that can only come from surrendering to God and letting Him show you the way. Find out how she gets there in Inspired by the Hero.

Do you have a dedicated place to write?

Mostly I do my writing at my favorite spot on the loveseat in the family room. In the spring and summer, I take my laptop out on the screen porch and write there.

What can readers expect from you next?

I’m currently working on a romantic suspense novel featuring a legal secretary and a firefighter who get a second chance romance. The story takes place in and around Noxen, Pennsylvania.
